Shuhei Ise
born in 1986, based in Sendai and Tokyo, Ph.D. (Fine Art)
Shuhei Ise is a painter who conceives of painting not as a fixed image but as a constantly reconfiguring site, foregrounding the fluidity that reorganizes the perceptions of both viewer and painter.
Rather than presenting a singular meaning, his work allows multiple readings to emerge over time, emphasizing the process of seeing itself as something unstable and open.
Painting, for Ise, is not a medium of representation but a foundation for examining how perception is formed, transformed, and momentarily held.
